Nice little solar activity for us in the Northern U.S. and Southern Canada on December 7th. Aurora’s are certainly not extremely rare to see here in Michigan, but I have always enjoyed them and tried to see them – And now that I know alot more about it it’s become alot easier for me.
The solar storm got up to a kp number of 6.33 – Which is perfect for viewing the Aurora’s in Mid-Michigan, however you have to have a clear sky and make sure you are as far away from city light pollution as possible. I’ll leave out photography tips as you can easily google them, but I highly recommend if you have a DSLR camera to try and catch the Northern Lights atleast once to enjoy them! Below are some shots from the event.
